Why We Ask About Ethnicity

It all begins with an idea.

At Twyned, we not only recognize that race and ethnicity are important parts of people’s identities but celebrate the cultural diversity of our users. We strive to create a space where everyone feels represented, included, and safe.

How Ethnicity Works on Twyned

We allow users to select up to four ethnicities that best describe them. If you don’t want to highlight your ethnicity on your profile, you don’t have to—your comfort comes first! You can also add, edit, or remove your ethnicity from your profile at any time.

Our Ethnicity Preference Setting

Our ethnicity preference setting empowers users to choose which ethnicities they are open to dating. Through extensive and thoughtful research, we’ve found that this helps people of color more easily and quickly connect with others who share similar cultural backgrounds and experiences, especially in areas where they are part of a marginalized minority. Twyned is designed to facilitate meaningful, real-life connections, not keep users endlessly swiping—and our ethnicity preference setting lets users do just that.

Our Commitment to Inclusivity

By collecting information about ethnicity, we aim to ensure our platform is inclusive and representative of all cultural backgrounds. If you don’t see your race or ethnicity represented, please let us know. We are committed to continually expanding our inclusivity efforts and ensuring everyone feels safe and welcome on our platform.

At the heart of our mission is connection. We honor the power of shared cultural backgrounds and experiences to bring people together.

Racism and all other forms of identity-based hate are strictly prohibited at Twyned. We will continue to center the voices and perspectives of marginalized people to ensure our community stays safe, welcoming, and inclusive for everyone. If you have suggestions on how we can improve, please reach out. We welcome and take all constructive feedback seriously.

Why We Ask About How Your Date Went

It all begins with an idea.

At Twyned, your safety and comfort are our top priority.

After a first date, we ask how it went so we can:

  • Ensure you had a positive and respectful experience

  • Provide support if something felt off or unsafe

  • Identify patterns of inappropriate behavior to protect others in the community

If you indicate the date didn’t go well — especially if someone didn’t show up or made you feel uncomfortable — we’ll guide you to helpful resources and next steps. This may include options to report the user, block them, or learn more about our safety features.

You’re never alone in navigating these situations — we’re here to make sure your dating experience is safe, respectful, and transparent.

💛 Thank you for helping us build a safer and more accountable community.

No-Show Policy

It all begins with an idea.

At Twyned, we believe in respecting each other's time and intentions.

When a user agrees to a date and doesn’t show up without notice, it can be frustrating, disappointing, and even emotionally upsetting for the person left waiting. To help maintain a respectful and reliable dating experience, we have a strict no-show policy:

  • If a user fails to show up for a confirmed date, we document the incident.

  • If a user has two confirmed no-show offenses, their account will be permanently banned from the app.

We take no-shows seriously because accountability matters — and everyone deserves to feel valued and respected in their dating experience.

If someone didn’t show up for your date, thank you for letting us know. We’ll take the necessary steps to review and address the situation according to this policy.

Community Standards

It all begins with an idea.

Twyned is committed to creating a safe, respectful, and authentic space for dating. These Community Standards are here to protect everyone — whether you’re chatting in-app, planning a date, or already met in person.

We take violations seriously and encourage users to report any behavior that feels off, disrespectful, or unsafe.

✅ What We Expect:

  • Be authentic — Use accurate photos, honest age, and truthful profile information.

  • Show genuine intent — Only match with people you’re seriously interested in getting to know.

  • Respect boundaries — Whether you’re chatting or meeting in person, always honor physical, emotional, and digital boundaries.

  • Be punctual and dependable — If you agree to meet someone, show up on time or communicate clearly if plans change.

  • Treat others with kindness and respect — No ghosting, games, or rude behavior.

  • Use thoughtful, mature communication — Keep conversations respectful, honest, and free from harassment or pressure.

🚫 Not Tolerated (In-App or In-Person):

Before the Date / In the App

  • Fake or misleading profiles — This includes using someone else’s photos, incorrect age or name, or otherwise misrepresenting who they are.

  • Inappropriate or offensive bios — Profiles containing explicit content, discriminatory remarks, or language that violates our standards.

  • Harassing or aggressive messages — Any messages that are hostile, inappropriate, or pressure someone into uncomfortable conversations.

  • Spam, scams, or solicitation — Attempts to sell something, promote services, or lure users into external platforms for suspicious purposes.

  • Impersonation of another person — Pretending to be someone else, including celebrities, influencers, or real people the user doesn't have consent to represent.

  • Hate speech or explicit content — Any discriminatory, sexually graphic, or abusive language or imagery.

After Meeting

  • No-shows or deceptive behavior — Agreeing to a date and not showing up without communication, or significantly misrepresenting intentions or identity.

  • Harassment or coercive behavior — Repeated unwanted contact, pressure to meet again, or attempts to manipulate emotionally or physically.

  • Non-consensual or inappropriate physical contact — Any physical interaction that occurs without clear, enthusiastic consent.

  • Verbal abuse or threatening conduct — Yelling, insults, intimidation, or making someone feel unsafe during or after the date.

  • Violations of personal safety — Any action that crosses established boundaries or makes a user feel unsafe, online or offline.

Violations of these standards may result in warnings, temporary suspension, or permanent removal from the platform — depending on severity and frequency.

We review every report carefully and take action based on both the details you share and any patterns of behavior we observe. You can report a user at any time through their profile or at the end of a date.

Your voice matters, and we’re here to listen and support you.

💛 Thank you for helping make Twyned a safer space for everyone.
