How to use Twyned

Curious how the app works? Click on any of these categories to learn more about the Twyned process.

Log In

Sign In

Are you logging into a pre-existing account? All you need to do is click sign in, and you will be directed to enter your phone number. Once you have done so, you will be sent a five digit verification code to your phone. Plug that in and you will then be signed into your Twyned account!

Create an Account

Are you signing up for the first time? Congrats, we are excited to have you be a part of the Twyned community!

Please click Get started, and you will be directed to enter your phone number. Once you have done so, you will be sent a five digit verification code to your phone. You will then begin the onboarding process - which should take you less than five minutes to complete.

Here, we will ask you a series of basic questions to start filling out your profile. The following categories include:

  • Name

  • Birthday

  • Height

  • Gender

  • Gender Preferences

  • Ethnicity

  • Religion

  • Political Views

  • Dating Preferences

  • Alcohol Use

  • Tobacco Use

  • Photo Uploads

  • Prompts

  • First Date Preferences

Please note that most of these categories are optional and can be filled in later. Once you have gone through each of these fourteen categories, you will now be officially in the app!

People

Remove/Report: Keeping Your Experience Safe

Here is where you can Remove or Report any user that you do not want to see on the app moving forward.

Twyned is committed to creating a safe, respectful, and authentic space for dating. Please view our [Community Standards] to learn more about the conduct we expect within the app and outside of it.

🔕 Remove a User

If you'd simply prefer not to interact with a particular user again:

  • Tap Remove from the user’s profile or conversation.

  • Once confirmed, their profile will be hidden from your view and you will no longer appear in theirs.

This is a discreet way to step away from any match that doesn’t feel like the right fit—no explanation needed.

🚩 Report a User

If someone violates Twyned’s standards, please report them. When you tap Report, you’ll be asked to select a reason. Categories include:

  • Fake, Scammer, or Spam – For users with stolen images, impersonation, or fraudulent intent.

  • Harassment, Abuse, or Hateful Behavior – Including stalking, verbal threats, hate speech, or non-consensual content.

  • Inappropriate Content – For offensive prompts, bios, or photos.

  • Underage Users – If you believe someone is under the age of 18.

Each category includes sub-options to give more context. Your report helps us investigate and take action quickly to maintain safety and trust on the platform.

Once submitted, you’ll see a confirmation overlay letting you know that the user will no longer appear in your app and that the Twyned team has been alerted if necessary.

People: Discover Your Matches

The People tab is where you browse potential matches—one at a time, with intention. Each profile is designed to help you quickly learn what matters most about someone, and decide whether you’re interested in planning a date.

Browsing Profiles

  • Full-Screen Cards – You’ll see one profile at a time with name, age, city, distance, and top-level preferences (e.g., relationship intent).

  • Tap the Heart ❤️ – If you’re interested, tap the heart to like their profile.

  • Tap the X ✖️ – Not feeling it? Tap the X to pass and move on to the next person.

This format encourages focused, distraction-free browsing—so you’re not overwhelmed by choices.

It’s a Match!

When someone you liked also likes you back, you’ll land on the “It’s a Match!” screen:

  • You have 72 hours to plan a date directly.

  • From here, you can tap Plan a Date to begin setting up your first meetup—no small talk required.

Missed a Match

Didn’t respond in time? You’ll see a “You missed a match!” overlay. You can choose to skip it or tap Find out who to upgrade to Twyned+ and unlock expired matches.

No New Matches

If you’ve browsed everyone available in your filters:

  • You’ll see a message that says “That’s everything!”

  • Try adjusting your filters to see more people, or check back later for new matches.

No More Likes

On the free plan, you have a limited number of likes per day.

  • When you hit your limit, you’ll see “You ran out of likes for today!”

  • You can either wait until tomorrow or upgrade to Twyned+ for unlimited likes and added features.

Filters: Customize Your Preferences

Twyned makes it easy to refine your matches with Basic and Advanced Filters, helping you focus on what matters most to you.

Basic Filters

The Basic Filters help you narrow down matches using the most essential criteria. These include:

  • Gender – Choose who you're interested in connecting with.

  • Distance – Set how far away your matches can be.

  • Age – Select the age range you’d like to see.

  • Verified Profiles – Filter to only show profiles that have been verified for authenticity.

  • Religion – Match with people who share (or respect) your spiritual beliefs.

  • Ethnicity – Optionally filter based on ethnic background.

  • Dating Expectations – Align on what type of relationship you’re looking for.

Advanced Filters

Want to go deeper? Our Advanced Filters allow for more detailed customization, helping you find people who align with your lifestyle, values, and interests. Options include:

  • Height – Set your preferences for how tall (or short) you'd like your matches to be.

  • Children – Filter based on whether someone has kids or not.

  • Family Plans – See if your long-term goals around having children align.

  • Tobacco – Choose whether you’re open to someone who uses tobacco.

  • Cannabis – Decide whether cannabis use is a dealbreaker or a shared interest.

  • Alcohol – Match with people whose drinking habits align with yours.

  • Politics – Filter based on political views or openness to differing opinions.

  • Education – Narrow down matches by their level of education.

  • Relationship Type – Make sure you're seeing people looking for the same type of connection.

  • Languages – Filter based on the languages someone speaks.

  • Exercise – Find matches who share your fitness habits or activity level.

Each filter is optional—use as many or as few as you'd like. Twyned is designed to help you connect with people who meet your priorities, whatever they may be.

Likes: See Who’s Interested

Twyned makes it easy to track mutual interest and keep your dating experience moving forward. The Likes section shows you who has liked your profile and gives you control over how you interact with them.

Premium Likes

If you’re a premium user, you can view every profile that has liked you in real time. Here’s how it works:

  • Scroll through your Likes – Instantly see everyone who has shown interest in you.

  • Tap a profile – View their full profile to decide if you’re interested.

  • Match or Pass – Tap the heart to create a match and head to the "It’s a Match!" screen, or tap the X to skip and move on to the next like.

  • Plan a Date – If you match, you’ll immediately have the option to plan a date directly—no chatting required.

This makes it easy to stay in control and quickly meet people you're genuinely excited about.

Non-Premium Likes

If you’re not a premium user, your Likes section will be slightly blurred or locked:

  • See blurred previews – You’ll know how many people have liked you, but won’t be able to view their full profiles unless you upgrade.

  • Upgrade to unlock – Tap the lock icon or blurred profiles to view subscription options and unlock the full Likes feature.

Twyned Premium gives you access to this and more, helping you take control of your experience and make connections more confidently.

Matches: Make it Happen

Once you've matched with someone, Twyned makes it simple to move from interest to action. No endless messaging—just intentional connections and real dates.

View Matches

Your Matches tab is where mutual likes live. It’s split into two sections:

  • Plan a Date – Shows matches you haven’t planned a date with yet.

  • Request – Shows matches who have already sent you a date invitation.

From here, you can tap on any profile to see their info, suggest a plan, or respond to their request.

Plan a Date

When you’re ready to make a move, tap Plan a Date on someone’s profile and follow these steps:

  1. Set Date Preferences – Choose a general time of day (Morning, Afternoon, Evening).

  2. Pick a Date & Time – Select the exact date and time for your meetup.

  3. Choose a Location – Browse a curated map view of suggested places or search your own. You can even select by category (e.g., coffee, drinks, outdoors).

  4. Add a Message – Include a short, personal note to go along with your invitation.

  5. Send the Request – Hit send and your date request will be delivered instantly.

You’ll get a confirmation once your invite is sent—and can update or cancel it any time before it’s accepted.

Respond to a Date Request

If someone sends you a date invitation, you’ll find it in the Request tab. Tap on it to:

  • View Details – Check out the time, place, and message they sent.

  • Accept – Lock in the date with a single tap.

  • Decline – Politely pass or suggest an alternative.

  • Propose New Plans – If the time or place doesn’t work, you can edit either and send back your suggestion.

Once a plan is accepted, you’ll both receive a confirmation message: "It’s a Date!"

First Dates: Where the Real Connection Happens

The First Dates tab is where your confirmed dates live. Once a match accepts your date request (or you accept theirs), the plan is added here—organized and easy to track.

Viewing and Managing Dates

Your scheduled dates are organized by day and week so you can plan ahead with ease:

  • Calendar View – Scroll through upcoming days to see who you're meeting and when.

  • Tap a Date – View full details, including the time, location, and any notes attached to the plan.

  • Messaging – Use the built-in message feature to touch base or confirm logistics before the date.

  • Cancel or Reschedule – If something changes, tap the calendar icon or cancel button and confirm your update. You’ll receive a cancellation confirmation.

You can also sync the date directly with your Google or iOS calendar to stay organized.

After the Date

Within 24 hours of your scheduled date, you’ll be prompted to share how it went:

  • Quick Feedback Options – Choose from options like “It went well,” “They didn’t show up,” or “It didn’t go great.”

  • Follow-up Actions – If a date didn’t go well or felt unsafe, you’ll have the opportunity to unmatch or report the situation discreetly.

  • Positive Experience – If it went well, awesome! Your match remains active, and you’re free to plan a second date when ready.

Your input helps us keep the Twyned community respectful, safe, and aligned with real intentions.

Profile: Showcase Who You Are

Your Twyned profile is designed to highlight the most important parts of your personality, lifestyle, and dating preferences—helping others understand what makes you, you. This section walks you through everything you can edit or customize.

🧾 Profile Overview / Payments / Safety / Edit

  • Edit Profile – Tap the pencil icon to upload or rearrange your photos, add a bio, and edit any personal info.

  • Safety Center – Access tools to block/report users and read up on safety guidelines.

  • Twyned+ Subscription – Upgrade for extra features like unlimited likes, priority visibility, and verified badge.

  • Remove Profile – If you’d like to pause or delete your account, you’ll find that option here as well.

✍️ Prompts / Interests / Bio

  • Prompts – Choose from various categories (About Me, Dating, Dealbreakers, etc.) to answer fun, reflective questions.

  • Interests – Select your favorite hobbies, conversation starters, and passions to help others learn what you’re into.

  • Bio – Write a short paragraph to introduce yourself. Think of it as your “elevator pitch” to potential matches.

🧩 The Basics

This section helps ground your profile with key factual information:

  • Location – Where you currently live or are looking to date.

  • Languages – Let others know what languages you speak.

  • Height – Add your height if you’d like it visible.

  • Job Title & Industry – Share what you do for work and the field you’re in.

  • Education – Specify your highest level of education.

  • School – Add where you went to college, if relevant.

🧠 Identity

Express your core identity here—Twyned offers inclusive options throughout:

  • Gender & Pronouns – Choose your gender identity and preferred pronouns.

  • Sexuality – Define your sexual orientation.

  • Ethnicity – Optionally share your cultural background.

  • Politics & Religion – Add if these values are important in a partner.

  • Zodiac Sign – Optional, but fun for astrology lovers.

🧬 Lifestyle

These filters help align you with people who share or respect your day-to-day habits:

  • Kids & Family Plans – Note whether you have or want children.

  • Pets – Let others know if you’re a dog person, cat person, or both!

  • Activity Level – Share how physically active you are.

  • Alcohol / Tobacco / Cannabis Use – Be upfront about personal habits.

  • Diet & Allergies – Indicate dietary preferences or restrictions.

❤️ Relationship Preferences

Twyned puts the focus on intentional dating, and this section is all about that:

  • First Date Ideas – Choose what you'd enjoy doing when meeting someone.

  • Availability – Share when you’re generally free to go on dates.

  • Travel Radius – Set how far you're willing to travel for a first date.

  • Relationship Style – Identify if you're more traditional, open, or casual.

  • Dating Expectations – Clarify what you're looking for: long-term, short-term, etc.

  • Love Languages – Help others understand how you give and receive affection.

Settings: Manage Your Account With Ease

The Settings tab is where you take control of your Twyned experience—from managing your account and notifications to verifying your profile or deleting it altogether.

🔐 Account Management

  • Phone Number & Email – Update and verify your contact info anytime. Email verification requires clicking a link sent to your inbox.

  • Face ID – Enable or disable Face ID for faster and more secure logins.

  • Location – View or update your current city.

  • Blocked Contacts – Manage who you’ve blocked from viewing your profile or interacting with you.

  • Verify Profile – Take a selfie replicating a pose to confirm you’re the real you. Once verified, a badge will appear on your profile.

🧾 Communication & Notifications

Customize how you receive updates from Twyned:

  • Push Notifications – Get alerts directly on your phone for matches, date requests, reminders, etc.

  • Email Notifications – Control which types of updates are sent to your inbox.

  • SMS Notifications – Choose what you’d like to receive via text, including reminders or date updates.

You can toggle any of these on or off individually.

🧊 Subscription Management

  • Twyned+ – Upgrade to Twyned+ to unlock premium features.

  • Restore Subscription – If you’ve already paid, use this option to re-enable access without paying again.

  • Double Tap to Subscribe – Confirm your in-app purchases securely through Apple Pay.

❌ Delete Account

If you decide to leave Twyned, the deletion flow is simple—but permanent:

  1. Choose a Reason – Select from options like “I met someone” or “Taking a break.”

  2. Follow-Up Prompts – Based on your reason, you may get reminders (e.g., toggle notifications instead of leaving).

  3. Confirmation Screen – You’ll be warned that deletion is permanent and cannot be undone.

  4. Final Step – Click Delete Account to confirm.

If your reason involves app dissatisfaction, you’ll be encouraged to share feedback to help improve the platform.
